In Middleburg

Skip the Mall. The best's in the 'burg

hen the editors of this wonderful publication invited me to write about Middleburg, my immediate response was: are you absolutely, positively sure you want a piece about ...shopping?
I confess. I'm a lightweight. But at least I know my limitations: fifteen thousand on Visa, ten thousand on MasterCard. Of course there are no restrictions on my Amex, but that's just because my husband cut up my card.

It's true, I could talk about the wonderful places to eat, and the pretty, quaint streets. And certainly I could mention the farms and vineyards, the lovely inns, and museums, and the fact that Middleburg is a world-renowned equestrian Mecca.

But frankly, those topics are better served by someone more knowledgeable than moi. This girl's shtick is shopping.

And good shopping, close to home (Middleburg is ten tiny minutes from my front door) is what I call Heaven.

About the Author: The author of Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl, Susan McCorkindale lives with her husband, two sons, three always-covered-in-cow-poop dogs, two cats, a couple head of cattle, and way too many chickens on a farm in Upperville. She's currently at work on her second book and would be further along if she didn't have to keep stopping to hose down the hounds.
